Mary Virginia Simons Collette 1921-2002 Obituary

Mary Virginia Simmons Collette, 81, a former resident of the Mackeyville community, Hambleton, and more recently a resident of the Broaddus Long Term Care at Philippi, departed this life Monday morning, Nov. 11, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born Jan. 26, 1921, at Adrian, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lee Simmons.

She was married to William Eldridge Collette, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1960.

Surviving are one son, Moody Eldridge Collette and wife, Margaret Mae “Peg”, Philippi; three grandsons, Charles Lee Arnold and wife, Madeline, Hendricks, William Keith Collette, Hambleton, and Jacob Lee Collette and wife, Regina, Philippi; and three nephews.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a daughter, Raeanna “Phoebe” Arnold and infant twins, Kevin and Karen Collette; and one brother, James Simmons.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1940. She was a former employee of the Hinebaugh’s Restaurant for many years. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Parsons.

The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Wednesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Charles Arnold will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons.
