Mr. Maurice W. Miller, age 88 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2011 in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center.

He was born July 20, 1922 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Preston and Columbia McCloud Miller.

On October 11, 1946, he was married to Betty Jo Vanscoy Miller who preceded him in death August 28, 2004.

He is survived by two sisters, Irene Getz, Fairmont and Donna Woodward of Fanwood, NJ.

Also preceding him in death were two sons, Andrew and Thomas Miller, two brothers, Marion Miller and Richard Miller and three sisters, Eloene Campbell, Ada Pingley and June Roby.

Mr. Miller was a Veteran of the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Corporal while stationed in England during World War II.

He was a retired foreman with the Western Maryland Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood Railway Clerks, H. W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a member of the Faith Baptist Chapel of Beverly. Mr. Miller loved to garden, especially tomatoes and potatoes and gave much of what he raised to people in the community.

Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 9th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Hopkins and Rev. A.D. Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Baptist Chapel, RR2, Box 28, Beverly, WV 26253 in memory of Mr. Miller.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Maurice W. Miller.
