MICHAEL SCOTT PHILLIPS, age 38 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life Tuesday morning, October 4, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born Saturday, April 14, 1973 at Johnstown, PA a son of the late Ora Dell “Junebug” Phillips, Jr., and Arlene F. Walters Williams, who survives at Johnstown, PA. On July 7, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church at Elkins, he was married to the former Emily Nicole Jones, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Tyler Michael Phillips; Isaac Michael Phillips; and Eli Michael Phillips; two daughters, Carleigh Brooke Phillips; and Brynna Rae Phillips; one sister, Angela Dawn Kyle and husband Jonathan, Huttonsville and his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Walters, Johnstown, PA.

Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, Ora Dell “Nip” and Mary Phillips and his maternal grandfather, Austin Walters.

He was a graduate of Tygart’s Valley High School with the Class of 1991, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked in Automobile Sales. He was an avid outdoorsman, was a wonderful father and husband and always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Monday. The casket will remain closed. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV, where the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29 American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites.
