Mildred Annis James, 79, a former resident of Hendricks, and more recently of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, died Oct. 23, at the center. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications of diabetes.

She was born July 10, 1922 at Benbush, a daughter of the late Patrick A. Wamsley and Bessie Dumire Wamsley. She was twice married, first to Walter Raymond Cunningham, who preceded her in death March 6, 1946. On May 14, 1952, she was married to Marvin E. James Sr. who preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1984.

Surviving are three sons, Raymond C. (and Joan) Cunningham, Eastern Shore, VA, Danny Mullenex, Arlington, VA, Marvin E. “Rick” (and Anna Mae) James Jr., Kerens; a daughter, Gloria (and Edward) Blankenship, Albany, NY; two brothers, Harold Wamsley, Byesville, OH., Clyde “Buck” Wamsley, Louisville, OH., several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are one daughter, Annis Cunningham; four brothers, Warren “Sham”, Ed Orville and Charles Wamsley; two sisters, Beulah Mullenex and Annie Ashby.

She attended the schools of Tucker County, was a member of the Randolph County Senior Center and a member of the Church of God at Elkins.

Friends were received at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home where final rites were conducted Oct. 26. Pastors Randall Richards and Albert Belt officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery, Parsons.
