Neva M. Swecker 1914-2002 Obituary

Neva M. Swecker, 88, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, and a patient in Nella’s Nursing Home for the past 18 months, passed away at 6:27 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department.

She was born Jan. 15, 1914, at Mill Creek, the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Pudder Louk.

She was married to Woodrow Swecker Sr., who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Woody Swecker and wife, Patty, Dailey, and John Swecker and wife, Pam, East Dailey; one daughter, Lorna Semmler, Elkins; two brothers, Kenneth Louk, Virginia Beach, Va., and Blair Louk, Valley Bend; six sisters, Roxie Lodge, Las Vegas, Nev., Alice Howell and Laura Nelson, both of Elkins, Ina Gear, Beverly, Vada Johnson, Mill Creek, and Shirley Riegel, Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Junior Louk; and one grandchild.

Ms. Swecker worked as a cook for Homestead School for many years prior to her retirement.

She attended the Valley Bend Church of Christ.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday. Pastor Kent Price will officiate and interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
