Mr. Newton A. Tingler, age 87 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday evening, September 24, 2012 in Nella’s Nursing Home. He was born November 29, 1924 at Osceola, WV a son of the late Willie K. Tingler and the late Bula V. Whitecotton Tingler. On February 4, 1950, he was married to Mary Cunningham Tingler who survives in Elkins. Also surviving are one son, Joseph Tingler and wife Christy of Elkins, one daughter, Lois Tacy and husband James of Beverly. One grandson, Wesley Tacy, one great granddaughter, Emma Tacy and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Tingler was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Tingler and Kermit Tingler and one sister, Wilma Hetzer.

Mr. Tingler was a farmer and a mail carrier and retired from the United States Forest Service as the caretaker of Spruce Knob Lake. He was a member of the North Fork Apostolic Church.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewaine Corley officiating. Interment will follow in the Newton and Mary Tingler Family Cemetery at the Sinks of Gandy. At the request of the family, flowers are to be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vision Worship Center Building Fund, 1612 Lavalette Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Tingler. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Newton A. Tingler.
