Norma Jean Lambert Fortney, 58, a resident of Elkins, went home to be with God Thursday, November 14, 2019, at home. Although she had been in declining health, death was sudden and unexpected.

Norma was born Tuesday, May 9, 1961, in Harman, the sixth child of the late Ernest W. Lambert and Christena Friel Lambert.

Left to cherish her memory is her good friend and companion, Lynn Fortney, two children, Tiffany Jean Fortney Long and husband Andrew, and Ethan Lynn Fortney and wife Ashley, grandchildren, Zac and Lilly Booth, brothers, Charles Lambert and Cathy Swecker, David Lambert and wife Winnie, Joseph Lambert and wife Brenda, sister, Betty Jean Lambert White, aunt, Sandra Lambert, uncles, Hancil and Raymond Lambert, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was one infant brother, Robert Lambert, grandparents, Lena and James Lambert, Luther Lambert, uncles and aunts, Permilla Lambert Reed, Grace Lambert Tingler, Carrie Lambert, Dempsey, Edith, Blake, Gertrude, Tunney, Louella, Kermit, and Hilda Lambert, and several cousins.

Norma loved to be outdoors. Because of her love of camping, she spent many summers camping in tents and campers. She will be remembered for her EPIC late night card games with family and friends and, the way she kept all the campers fed. Norma was Mennonite by faith.

Visitation will be held at the Lambert Mennonite Church Tuesday, November 19, 2019, from 11 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour. Rev. Boyd Wyatt will officiate and interment will follow in the Lambert Family Cemetery (Lambert II) on Middle Mountain. Contributions to help with final expenses may be made in Norma’s memory to Brenda Lambert PO Box 86 Bowden, WV 26256.
