Novil Edward Bender 1922-2002 Obituary

Novil Edward Bender, 80, a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1922, at Mabie, a son of the late Jesse Edward and Lillie Gay Lambert Bender.

He was married to Althea Posey, who preceded him in death in September of 2000.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen Darlene Bender Blosser; twin brothers, Herbert and Hobert Bender, both of Belington; and one grandson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sterl, Frederick and Bruce Arden Bender; and five sisters, Gladys, Vada and Hazel Bender, Virgie Elmore and Pearl Jones.

Mr. Bender was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a retired coal miner and was a Protestant by faith.

Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, the funeral hour. Evangelist Mike Phillips will officiate and interment will follow in Lower Rowan Cemetery at Mabie. Full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the H.W. Daniels Post No. 29, American Legion and Tygart Valley Post No. 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Novil Edward Bender
