ONIA CATHERINE “SIS” HUMPHREY STRAWDERMAN, age 73 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life early Friday morning, December 30, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, WV. She had been in declining health, however death was unexpected.

She was born Saturday, February 19, 1938 at Mt. Zion, WV., a daughter of the late Floyd Cleveland and Viola Frances Cross Humphrey. On June 26, 1954 at Red House, MD, she was married to Riley Lee Strawderman, Sr., who survives. They had celebrated fifty seven and a half years of marriage.

Also surviving are two sons, Riley Lee “Rod” Strawderman, Jr. and wife Sue Ellen of Bunker Hill, WV, Randal Lynn Strawderman and wife Julie of Mt. Zion, WV; one daughter, Pamela Diane Judy and husband Greg of Martinsburg, WV; two brothers, “Arlie” Wilson Franklin Humphrey and wife Shirley of Baltimore, MD, Floyd Junior Humphrey of Bunker Hill, WV; one half brother, David Hugh Humphrey; ten grandsons, Travis, Trevor, Tyler, Trey, Cody, Markus, Troy, Brett, Brody and Wesley; two granddaughters, Melissa and Corinne and one special granddaughter, Cecily “Sissy Lou”; and four great grandchildren, Andrew, Mikenzee, Taylor and Elliott.

Preceding her in death is one brother, James Leroy Humphrey.

She attended the Mt. Zion School and Parsons High School. She was an employee of the former Parsons Nursery, the former White Gables Nursing Home, the former Dorman Mills and she retired from the Tucker County Board of Education during 2000. She attended the Hendricks Free Methodist Church at Hendricks. She enjoyed Bluegrass music, Westerns and Hallmark movies and she was an avid cook. She loved being surrounded with her children and her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1 PM. The Rev. Harley DeLeurere will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Clover, WV.
