Opal Mae BARTON, 94, a former resident of Parsons, WV and more recently a patient at Broaddus Long Term Care, Philippi, WV died April 17, 2000 at the Care Center. Friends were received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 to 5 to 9pm Wed. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home Thursday, April 20 at 11:00 am. The Rev John Glessner officiated at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens. Opal was born June 4, 1905, at Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late William Worth and Cora May Johnson. October 27, 1926, she married to James Robert Barton, who preceded her in death January 23, 1961. Opal attended the schools of Tucker County, was a former employee of Shrader and Sons at New York City, retired in 1967 from the former Dorman Woolen Mills at Parsons and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Buryl O’Deen, Cedar Rapids, IA and Shirley Ann Judy and husband John W. “Bill” Judy, Parsons, WV; one sister, Geraldine Casto, Cedar Rapids, IA; nephew Bill Johnson, Spearfish, SD and niece, Greta Turbiville, Buffalo, SD; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Worth Barton in March, 1999; one brother, William Osco Johnson; two grandsons, Stephan O’Deen and James Robert Judy and one great-great grandson, Christopher Adams.
