ORA BIRD NOELL Ora Bird Noell, 78, of Rt. #1, Philippi, died Thursday afternoon, February 21, in the Broaddus Hospital. She was born November 6, 1934, at Meadowville, a daughter of the late Albert Jessie and Lula Bird (Sherman) Wilson. Her husband, James Arthur Noell preceded her in death on July 16, 1981. Surviving are three daughters, Michelle Carpenter and husband, Steve, Belington, Patricia Carpenter and husband, Tom, Mobile, AL, Betty Bartlett and husband, Russell, Bridgeport; one son, James Edward Noell and wife Nancy, Philippi; one step-son, Woodrow Cole and wife, Mary , Volga; twenty-eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Icalee Helmick. Mrs. Noell was a homemaker and attended the Corley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. James “Oz” Gray will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Sunday.
