Patrick Mayhew, Sr.,71, entered into eternal rest Friday January 21, 2011 at Barbour County Good Samaritan in Belington, WV. He was born Saturday December 23, 1939 in Everettville, WV, a son of the late Paul Patrick and Thelma Stevanus Mayhew. He attended the schools of Monongalia County. Patrick moved to the Randolph County area in the early 1970’s. Patrick was employed in the law enforcement sector for many years. He was a policeman for several years in Mill Creek, WV. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed going to flea markets. Patrick will be remembered as a man who loved to make people laugh. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Patrick Ryan Mayhew, Jr.; two brothers: Robert Allen Mayhew and Ray Edward Mayhew; half-brother: George Castell and half-sister: Marion Buchanan. Left to cherish his memories are one son: David Mayhew of Mill Creek, WV; two daughters: Diana Beverage and husband Larry of Huttonsville, WV and Brenda Taylor and husband Dayton of Mill Creek, WV; eight grandchildren: Chasdity Lee Grey, Jeremy Lee Taylor, Adam Wayne Beverage, Travis Houston Beverage, Bobby Mayhew, Michelle Mayhew, Joshua Stephen Mayhew and Jessica Renea Wells; five great-grandchildren ; ex-wife: Peggy Joann Ray of Mill Creek, WV; two sisters: Pauline Luzader and Violet Boyce both of Morgantown, WV and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday January 26, 2011 at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 27, 2011 at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marshall Williams officiating. Burial with full military rights accorded by H. W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion of Elkins, WV, Elkins VFW Post # 3647 and WV Honor Guard, Kingwood, WV will follow at The Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV.
