Patrick Warren Fairbanks, 51, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 72 north, Cheat Valley Highway.

He was born Monday, April 2, 1962, at Fort Bragg, N.C., a son of the late Rev. Terry Glen Fairbanks and Judy Dale Barr Fairbanks, who survives at Parsons.

Also surviving are one son, Tyler Warren Fairbanks of Morgantown; one daughter, Megan Jo Fairbanks of Morgantown; four brothers, Robert Fairbanks and wife, Barbara, of Reedsville, Danny Fairbanks and wife, Laura, of Cartersville, Ga., Michael Fairbanks and wife, Elizabeth, of Morgantown, and Timothy Fairbanks of Morgantown; one sister, Terra Fairbanks Hamrick of Elkins; aunts and uncles, Lenny and Jenny Delaney of Morgantown and Jerry and Madonna DiBacco of Parsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his best friend, Bones.

Preceding him in death were one brother, Anthony Scott Fairbanks; paternal grandparents, Pauline Delaney Mullenax and Benjamin Warren Fairbanks; and maternal grandparents, Dale and Evelyn Keister Barr.

He attended Sabraton Junior High School, where he was a member of the football squad of which his father was the coach. He was a graduate of Morgantown High School with the class of 1981, where he played center for the football squad. He was a former employee of Preston Energy (Big Jo Mine), Arkwright Mine and Loveridge Mine. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Union for more than 25 years. He was a member of Sabraton Baptist Church and he attended St. John’s United Methodist Church. He was an outdoorsman, fishing, ramp digging and spending time at his cabin on the Shavers Fork. The loves of his life were his children, Tyler and Megan, and his dog, Bones.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Sunday, April 14, from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Phil Dent will officiate, and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
