MR. PAUL HOY “SHORTY” HUFFMAN, 95, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, the East Dailey community, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, in Valentine Personal Care Home Inc. while under the care of Hospice Care Corp.

He was born Oct. 22, 1914, at Whitmer, a son of the late Hoy C. Huffman and the late Rhoda Lambert Huffman.

On May 26, 1939, in Elkins, he was married to Alta Mae McDonald Huffman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1999. Surviving are one son, Paul David Huffman and wife, Mary, of Valley Bend; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and another expected in January 2011.

Also preceding him in death were one son, Robert William Huffman; one brother, Shellis Huffman; and four sisters, Lucretia Zambelli, Portia Lee Huffman, Grace McDaniel and Mary Hinkle.

“Shorty” was a graduate of Parsons High School, was employed by Mower Lumber Co. in Dailey and was employed as a survey technician with the United States Forest Service at the time of his retirement.

He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A Wake Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with The Very Father Donald X. Higgs, VF, as the presider.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Father Donald X. Higgs, VF, as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Brendan Cemetery.

Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Paul Hoy “Shorty” Huffman.
