Paul Joseph Hodyas, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born on Oct. 13, 1937 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Paul and Rose Cermak Hodyas. Paul attended high school and graduated from the Linsly Military Institute in 1956. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV, with a degree in Economics in 1960. Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps for whom he served a total of 12 years in active duty and as a reserve achieving the rank of Captain prior to his discharge in 1973. Paul was employed by the Pennsylvania Glass Sand and Ohio Lime Companies during his professional career as a sales manager prior to retiring in 2003. Paul was a devoted family man with an infectious personality, charm and sense of humor. Raised a catholic, he found our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his faith at the Bethany Baptist Church along the banks of the Buckhannon River in Hall, WV. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara A. Hall Hodyas of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; his son Michael Hodyas and his wife Lisa of Canton, MI; his granddaughter Dasha of Canton; his sisters, Rosemarie Bursee and husband Charles and Elizabeth (Betty) Curtis; his brother-in-law, Larry Hall and his wife, Nancy, of Bridgeport, WV and numerous other family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members in Germany and Poland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jerry Hall, of Havre de Grace, MD. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Poling St. Clair Funeral Home from 6-9 PM. He will lie in state from 10-11 AM Friday the funeral hour at the Bethany Baptist Church in Hall. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Cemetery on the hill overlooking Hall. May Paul rest in peace. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
