Paul Leonard Rice, 75, of Elkins, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Bridgeport, son of the late Lewis Jordan and Florence Nutter Rice.

He was a graduate of Elkins High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-46 and achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He was retired as a cabinet maker from Elkins Builders Supply.

He was a member of First United Methodist C hurch, Elkins; American Legion H.W. Daniels Post 29; and the American Legion “Forty and Eight” club.

He is survived by his wife, June “Vicky” Viquesny Rice, whom he married Oct. 22, 1949; a son, Jeff Rice, of Morgantown; a daughter, Jeanne Ellen Crawford, of California; three brothers, Robert Rice, of New Jersey, and James Rice and Don Rice, both of Elk ins; a sister, Rita Wilson, of New Orleans; and four grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Rice; and three sisters, Virginia Willhide, Lois Richmond and Eleanor Teter.

Friends may call at First United Methodist Church, Elkins, from 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, until the 1 p.m. service, with the Rev. Jonas Johnson Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion H.W. Daniels Post 29 and VFW Post 3647 of Elkins.
