Paul “Romie” Griffith, 74, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

Romie was born Friday, October 3, 1941 in Elkins, a son of the late Lester Griffith and Ora Watson Griffith.

On June 24, 1972 in Thomas, he married the former Carris Ann Higgins who survives in Elkins.

They enjoyed forty three years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Romies memory are four siblings, Charles Griffith and wife Nancy of AL, Gary Griffith and wife Jeanie of Evans, Maxine Miller and husband Jerry of Jimtown and Evelyn Sissy Nelson and husband Mark of NC and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Romie in death besides his parents was his only child, Mark Paul Griffith, three siblings, Roger Griffith, Lester Shorty Griffith and Geneva Jenny Himes, sister in law Nancy Griffith and brother in law, Joe Himes. Romie attended the schools of Randolph County.

When he was nine years old, he started shining shoes at Josephs Newsstand in Elkins.

From the age of thirteen thru high school, Romie ran the register at the newsstand.

He made fourteen dollars a week and always made sure to take out seven dollars to give to his mother.

Romie was a 1961 graduate of Elkins High School.

He then proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Romie had been employed as a manager at Reidbord Brothers for thirty two years.

He enjoyed working in the flower beds at the house with his wife Carris Ann, was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all he touched.

Romie attended the Church of God in Elkins.

A visitation will be held at the Elkins Church of God, December 27, 2015 from 1:30P-3:30P, the funeral hour.

Bishop Jamie Estep and Rev. Eli Hostetler will officiate.

Romies request for cremation will then be honored.
