Pauline Genevieve McCusker “Polly” White, 91, a resident of 311 Wilson St., the Dodd Apartments, Elkins, departed this life at 5:50 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to a stroke.

She was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late Charles Joseph McCusker and Leona Glynn Clingerman McCusker.

On Oct. 30, 1934, she was married to Colonel Ambrose F. White, who preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1954.

Surviving are one nephew, Robert Thomas Larson Jr., Denver, Colo.; two nieces, Mary Michael McCusker Vallei, Morgan Hill, Calif., and Mary Ann McCusker Weiss, Alexandria, Va.; three great-nieces, Nichole Shanda and Heather Ashley Larson, both of Denver, Colo., and Erin Weiss, Alexandria, Va.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Eugene and James Francis McCusker; two sisters, Mary Margaret McCusker and Eleanor Elizabeth Larson; one half sister, Marie Jeanette McCusker Popp; one nephew, Kevin Eugene McCusker; and one niece, Patricia Gene McCusker Fleming.

Mrs. White was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1929, and attended Davis & Elkins College. She was employed by the federal government at Washington, D.C., for many years. She was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church of Elkins, and in 1934, during the fourth Mountain State Forest Festival was selected to be a Forest Festival Princess

Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On Monday morning, Mrs. White will be moved to Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Father William Anderson will be the presider, and entombment will follow in Maplewood Memorial Mausoleum in Elkins.
