Mrs. Pearl Fay White Curkendall, age 93 years, a resident of Philippi, WV, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi. She was born May 11, 1919 in Elkins, a daughter of the late Abraham Tallman White and the late Grace Lena Barkley White. She was twice married, first to Everett Clare Curtis who preceded her in death on July 25, 1968. On May 16, 1977, she was married to Everett Matthew Curkendall who preceded her in death on December 16, 1989. Surviving is one daughter, Clara Y. Phillips of Philippi, two sons, Everett D. Curtis of Flemington, WV and Arthur B. Curtis of Philippi. One brother, Ronald White of Bemis, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death were a son, Donald L. Curtis, two sisters, Leafy Bohon and Pauline Shillingburg and three brothers, Woodrow White, William White and Claude White and a grandson, James Everett Phillips. Mrs. Curkendall was employed by Broaddus Hospital in the Housekeeping Department prior to her retirement. She loved her dog “Missy”, especially loved her grandchildren and was a Christian and a member of the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Barry Moll officiating. On Friday, October 5th, she will be moved to the Maplewood Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 11:00 am. Rev. Barry Moll will officiate and interment will follow. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Pearl Fay White Curkendall.
