Peggy Amelia Hardin Parsons, 80, a resident of Parsons, entered her heavenly home Friday August 20, 2021 at her residence.

Peggy was born November 27, 1940 at the Myers Clinic in Philippi, West Virginia, a daughter of Thomas and Goldie Hardin of Kasson. On April 9, 1960 she married the late Ernest Lee Parsons in Oakland, Maryland.

Their union produced two daughters, Peggy Sue Kumpf (William) of Jamestown, Tennessee, and Becky Lea Polomski (Henry) of Parsons, West Virginia. She is survived by three grandchildren, April UpChurch (Steve) of Jamestown, Tennessee, Ernest Kumpf (Sarah) of Goshen , Indiana, and Kasey Stemple(Matthew) of Parsons, West Virginia. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

Peggy served her community in a variety of ways. Early in her working years she was a Deputy Sheriff in Tucker County. Many will remember her as the friendly face at the A&P store in Parsons, where she worked for 25 years until her retirement. Not being content to rest in retirement she joined her husband Ernie in providing security for the Canaan Valley Resort until Ernie retired. Peggy spent her recent years enjoying her home and family. She enjoyed walking with her friends Rita Jones and Glenda Lipscomb.

In the sure hope that, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Peggy has chosen to be cremated. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. The family wishes to thank Mountain Hospice for their diligent care in Peggy’s last days. They also want to thank Dr. Moore for coming out to the house to see Peggy, and to family and friends who have been so attentive in her time of travail. Peggy asked that in lieu of flowers consider a donation to Mountain Hospice and/ or the Tucker County Animal Shelter in her memory.
