Peggy Joan Ray, 77, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at her residence. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.

Peggy was born Monday, July 19, 1943, in Blacksville, a daughter of the late Thomas Ray Sr. and Dixie Feathers Ray.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Brenda Taylor and husband Dayton of Mill Creek, Diana Beverage and husband Larry of Marlinton, David Mayhew and companion Trisha Russell of Hemlock, grandchildren, Chasdity Grey and husband Ralph Jr., Jeremy Taylor and wife Jessica, Adam Beverage and companion Rebekah Hannah, Travis Beverage and wife Amanda, Bobby Mayhew, Michelle Mayhew, Joshua Mayhew, Jessica Wells, Kaitlin Hanshaw, Josh Burnside, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three siblings, Janet Ray of Keyser, Richard W. Ray and wife Mary of Brownsville, TX, Thomas Ray Jr. and wife Lisa of New Creek, and her Pomeranian, Dixie.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was one son, Patrick Ryan Mayhew Jr., and one sister, Barbara Mangold.
Peggy attended the schools of Randolph County and obtained her GED. She had been employed as a housekeeper for Davis and Elkins College and as a coal miner with Badger Coal. Peg loved being outdoors gardening and watching birds at the feeders. She also enjoyed canning and working her word search books. Peg was a hard worker all her life. Her children commented what a strong woman she was and wished they “could be half as strong as her”.

A graveside service will be conducted at Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser at noon on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
