PHILIP ANDREW “HOPPY” SMITH Philip Andrew “Hoppy” Smith, 60, of Philippi, died Thursday evening, June 28, 2012, of injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle near the entrance to Alderson – Broaddus College. He was born June 11, 1952, in Philippi, a son of the late Bradford Ray and Beulah (Glendenning) Smith. Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Smith; his former wife, Sue Ann (Perine) Smith; four brothers, Bradford W. Smith, Moatsville, Charles Smith, Philippi, Darl Smith and Luther June Smith, both of Wheeling; three sisters, Josephine Collins, Romney, Juanita Moats, Philippi, Roselie Lawson, Baltimore, Md. and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, his twin, Phyllis Ann Scott, Emma Jean Davis and Grace Andrews and by two brothers, Ray Willard Smith and Donald Lee Smith. Mr. Smith was a volunteer at HopeÂ’s Pantry and attended the Joseph Chapel Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 3, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. Pastor Shirley Webster and Pastor Randy Swiger will officiate and interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Monday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Tuesday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
