Ralph Leslie Bailey, 93, a resident of Helvetia, passed from this life Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2013, at home.

Ralph was born Sunday, Oct. 5, 1919, in Czar, a son of the late Orel Leslie Bailey and Stacie Freda Koon Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Lorraine Zirkle Bailey.

Left to cherish his memory are six children, Jewel Jessmer and husband, Ed, of Alliance, Ohio, Sherrel Bailey and wife, Charity, Darrell Bailey, all of Helvetia, Ranaee Janis and husband, Rick, of Chapin, S.C., Crystal Summers and husband, Scott, of Cartersville Ga., and Anthony Bailey and fiance, April, of Buckhannon; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by two children, Terrance Bailey and Victoria Mills; and one sister, Velna Golden.

Ralph attended the schools of Randolph County, and had worked as a logger for Dick Benson Logging. He enjoyed working on the farm, bird watching, the many animals around the farm and gardening. He was a Protestant by faith and retired from his work in the ministry where he proudly shared God’s word. Although he was not affiliated with a specific church, during the 1950s, he would travel the countryside setting up his tent and ministering to all those in need of God’s healing word.

Visitation will be held from The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services chapel on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Randy Long will officiate and interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery at Helvetia.
