Ralph Summerfield 1931-2017 Obituary
Ralph Summerfield, age 86 years, a resident of the Blue Rock Community, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center.
He was born June 8, 1931 in Elkins, a son of the late Denver and Lelah Goss Summerfield. He was married to Olive Mavadell Daniels who preceded him in death on October 31, 2009.
Surviving are three sons, Gary R. Summerfield and wife Elizabeth, Randal Summerfield and wife Ivy and Roger Summerfield and wife Sonya all of Blue Rock. One daughter-in-law, Kitty Summerfield, Adolph, a son-in-law, Chesly Koerner of Moorefield, WV; two brothers, Junior Summerfield, Blue Rock and Ervin Summerfield of Maryland; one sister, Thelma Haupt of Maryland; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one daughter, Brenda Koerner, one son, Michael Summerfield and two grandsons.
Ralph was a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years having retired from Carter-Roag Coal Company. He was minister having pastored churches at Blue Rock, Norton, Harrison Community, Bartow and Belington. He was a member of the Union Mission Church.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randy Long and Rev. Scott Spotloe officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Rock Cemetery, c/o Ivy Summerfield, 11436 Adolph Road, Mill Creek, WV 26280 in memory of Ralph.
