Ray A. Hannah, 84, a resident of 1507 Taylor Ave., Elkins, and for the past two weeks a patient at Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs, departed this life Saturday evening, Oct. 12, 2002, at the nursing home. He had been in declining health for the past 10 years.

He was born Thursday, March 21, 1918, at Monterville at Point Mountain, a son of the late Roy Hannah and Lena Riggleman Hannah.

On Oct. 29, 1966, at Morgantown, he was married to the former Norma L. Daniels White, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Phillip Ray Hannah, Toledo, Ohio; one daughter, Carol; one brother, Glenn Hannah, Dailey; one granddaughter and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Frank Hannah.

Mr. Hannah attended the schools of Point Mountain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II with the 38th Armored Infantry Battalion. He had worked for Charlie Pence’s planing mill and retired from the Mongold Lumber Co. He was a former member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, was a well-known guitar player and had attended the Brady Gate Church at Brady Gate.

Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery near Beverly, where members of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, and Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites.
