Raymond Lee Wilmoth, 78, a resident of 206 River Road in Belington, departed this life at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining health for quite sometime but death was unexpected.

He was born May 27, 1924, at Belington, the Audra community, the son of the late Boyd D. and Bertha Stella Haack Wilmoth.

On Oct. 30. 1948, at Oakland, Md., he was united in marriage to the former Kathleen Armentrout, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kenny Wilmoth and wife, Cassie, of Belington; three daughters, Brenda Wilmoth of Belington, Denise Stalnaker and husband, Charles, of Weston, and Cheryl Taylor and husband, Jim, of Belington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Clarence Wilmoth of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Earl Wilmoth of Belington; three sisters, Betty Steffon of Fairview, Ohio, Norma Wilmoth of Lakewood, Ohio, and Irene Collins of Sterling, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Arley, Don, Robert and Roy Wilmoth.

Mr. Wilmoth was a graduate of Belington High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was the former owner-operator of Wilmoth Lumber in Belington and was the former owner-operator for 16 years of the Dodge garage in Belington known as Wilmoth Auto Supply until 1979. At that time he became a used car dealer operating in Nutter Fort for the rest of his working life.

Mr. Wilmoth was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 410 in Belington, was also a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF&AM, and was a Shriner belonging to the Osiris Temple in Wheeling.

He was a Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and on Sunday until 1 p.m., the funeral hour when services will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with the Rev. Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington where the Belington Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside ritualistic services and the presentation of the American flag will be conducted by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Hospice, Crim Avenue, Belington, W.Va., 26250, and to the Barbour County Senior Center, PO Box 146, Philippi, W.Va., 26416. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Raymond Lee Wilmoth.
