Reginald “Reggie” Leroy Best, 83, of Marietta, OH, died Aug. 21, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Lower Salem to Arthur Jake and Minda Pauline Kehl Best

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Earley Best, whom he married Aug. 25, 1958, in Columbus; four daughters, Brenda K. (and Charles H.) Arnold, of Greenville, SC, Phyllis (and Phillip) Offenberger of Marietta, Linda Lee Warren of Marietta and Kathy L. (and Bob E. Jr.) King, of Canaan Valley; two sons, Reginald L. Best Jr. of Belpre and Richard Leroy (and Gina) Best, of Marietta (Devola); 15 grandchildren, Charles Shannon (and Wendy) Arnold, of Greenville, Stephen Kyle Arnold of Greenville, Karol Lee (and Darren) Frodsham of Las Vegas, NV., Tracy Lynn (and Gary Jr.) Gaugham, of Marietta, Amy Kay (and Barry Ewell, of California, Jason Paul (and Marnie) Warren, of Columbus, Anne Kathleen (and Ben) Reed, of Marietta, Lynn Elizabeth Warren of Columbus, Joy Michelle King of Washington, DC, Rebecca Ann King of Canaan Valley, Bobby Eugene (and Elizabeth Jean) King Canaan Valley, Michelle Best of Pennsylvania, Rick (and Amanda) Best , of Batesville and April Kathleen (and Mike) Morris of Seaside, Calif.; 11 great-grandchildren , Scot Phillip and Eric Frodsham, of Las Vegas, T.J. and Andrew Kent Gaugham of Marietta, Alan Christian and Kay Leelyn Ewell of California, Ashley Elizabeth and Emily Madeline Best of Batesville, Kelly Anne and Carrie Caroline Grace Best of Pennsylvania, and Sydney Kathleen Morris of California; one brother, James Nelson (and Leona) Best, of Marietta; and one sisters, Betty Lou (and Dale Oliver, of Poland, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gregory Lee Best.

He managed Broughton’s Restaurant for 23 years. At the age of 41, he started Best’s Grocery, later owning and operating five groceries in the Marietta area. He was a Protestant by faith.

Services were held Aug. 24, at Hadley Funeral Home with members of the family officiating; entombment in East Lawn Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Devola Volunteer Fire Department, Masonic Road, Devola.
