Mr. Richard Lee “Cub” Ball, Sr., age 86 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 in the Davis Memorial Hospital. He was born February 27, 1926 in Elkins, a son of the late Odbert and Evelyn Isner Ball. He was married to Charlotte Shea Ball who preceded him in death on December 3, 1993. Surviving is one son, Richard Lee Ball, Jr., Beckley, WV, one daughter, Andrea Sue Leonard of Clarion, PA, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Also preceding him in death was one son, Michael Lee Ball and one sister, Maxine Sheaves. Mr. Ball attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was later employed as a Coalminer and was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a Life Member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and a Life Member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. Interment will follow at a later date in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Richard Lee “Cub” Ball, Sr.
