Mr. Richard Wayne Gibson, age 85 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home.

He had been in declining health but his death was unexpected.

He was born December 14, 1927 at Portsmouth, OH a son of the late S.R. Gibson and the late Emma Smith Gibson.

On August 9, 1947, he was married to Billie Haller Gibson who preceded him in death on November 21, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Talbott, Buckhannon, WV and Phyllis Parrish and husband Jim of New York, NY.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amanda Talbott, Penwortham, England and Jason Talbott of Lexington, KY, three great grandchildren, Christian, Emily and Olivia Lake, three brothers, Berlin, William and Guy Gibson all of Elkins and three sisters, Joan Crouch, Valley Bend, Leota Gibson, Elkins and Connie Boyles of Ashland, KY. Also preceding him in death were his identical twin brother, Robert Gibson and two sisters, Norma Sutton and Cleota Vanscoy. Mr. Gibson was a Veteran and was employed as a Baker for Dutch Oven Bakery for many years. He later was employed in Maintenance by the Randolph County Board of Education from where he retired. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A Celebration of Mr. Gibson’s Life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday from the funeral home chapel. A private interment will be held later Thursday in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, PO Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Gibson. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Richard Wayne Gibson.
