Ricky Allen Fansler, Sr., 63, a resident of Cravens Run Road, Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday evening,

August 21, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Ricky was born Sunday, August 14, 1949 at Elkins, a son of the late Burley Woods and Rachel Amanda Fansler Woods.

On September 2, 1995 at Elkins, he was married to the former Deanna Carol Ramsey, who survives.

Others left to cherish Ricky’s memory include, five children, Ricky Allen Fansler, Jr. and fiancé, Shelly Richhart, of Boaz, AL, Christopher Fansler and wife, Celina, of Thorsby, AL, Michael Vance and fiancé, Latasha Phillips, Petina Bolton, all of Elkins, and Eddie Smith and wife, Jean, of Rodman, NY, four siblings, Diana Ogden and husband, Conley, Mary Thompson and husband, Tom, George Woods and wife, Reba, and Burley Woods, Jr. and wife, Donna, all of Elkins, twelve grandchildren, Serenity, Heavenly, Chloe, Cailen, Destiny, Jersey, Shawn, Ryan, Shyenne, Gabriel, Lucas, and Brooke, special friends, Doyle and Judy Herron of Elkins, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Mika Vance, and Brittany Fansler.

Ricky attended the schools of Randolph County, had served with the United States Army, had worked at Bruce Hardwood, and was a self employed carpenter and heavy equipment operator.

He enjoyed hunting, painting, and drawing. He was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and fun and harmless provoking. He was a member of the Tygart Valley Ministries Church where he played the drums for worship.

Visitation will be held at Tygart Valley Ministries Church in Beverly on Friday from 6 until 9PM. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2PM. Pastor Curlie Ray, Jr. and Rev. Conley Ogden will officiate, and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery where members of the HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
