Rita Lodoska (Berry) Currence, 83, a resident of Mabie, passed from this life Wednesday, October 14, 2020 under the care of her loving family and WV Caring Hospice.
She was born June 8, 1937 in Lyndon, VT. the daughter of the late Maurice and Shirley Berry of Lyndonville, VT.
On September 8, 1956 she married O.B. Currence who survives in Mabie, WV.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Sharon Zirkle and husband Roger of Mabie, WV, Gary Currence and wife Jessie of Mabie, WV, Kathy Currence and late companion Dana Guire of Elkins WV, Mark Currence and wife Carolyn of Timberville, VA., Don Currence and wife Diane of Coalton WV, Andy Currence of Mabie WV, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also, several nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death besides her parents were three brothers of Lyndonville, VT, Richard Berry, Edward Berry and Everett Berry. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Rita was a devoted mother and wife that always ensured the needs of her family and friends came before her own. She always enjoyed family gatherings to share in laughter and spend time with grandchildren. Rita was of the Christian faith and her favorite scripture to hear and read was Psalms 23. Rita also was part owner and maintained all the bookwork for the family owned business of O.B. Currence & Sons Plumbing & Heating of Mabie, WV. In honoring Rita’s wishes, flowers are to be omitted. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hemlock, WV. Rev. William “Wink” Lanham will officiate and interment will follow. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Rita L. Currence.
