Robert “Bob” Summerfield, age 75 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his home.

He had been in declining health but his death was unexpected.

He was born May 23, 1945 at Chenoweth Creek, a son of the late Garneth and Grace Schoonover Summerfield.

He was married to Thelma Jean Haller Summerfield who preceded him in death in 2016.

Surviving is one daughter, Teresa of Elkins and two brothers, Roger Summerfield and David Summerfield both of Elkins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews, Doug Summerfield and Brian Johnson.

Bob attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1964.

He was employed by Randolph County Schools and was a School Bus Inspector for the State of West Virginia at the time of his retirement.

He was an avid hunter and classic car enthusiast and enjoyed car shows where he displayed his 1980 Chevrolet Camaro.

Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2020 he will be moved to the Mountain State Memorial Gardens where a graveside service will be held at 11:00 am.

Pastor Jerry Lockett will officiate and interment will follow.

Social distancing and masks will be required for those attending Bob’s services.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Robert “Bob” Summerfield.
