Robert C. Deal, 94, of Valley Fork Road in Monterville, WV entered into eternal rest early evening Monday March 28, 2011 at the home of very special friends Squire and Mona Kittle of Mill Creek, WV. He was born Tuesday January 9, 1917 in Burlington, VT, a son of the late Charles and Malena Rubado Deal. One of the memorable highlights in his life was driving his parents across the United States on Old Route 66 after his high school graduation. “Bob” was a WWII Army veteran. He joined the military on Tuesday February 23, 1943 and was honorably discharged with the rank of T-5 on Thursday December 13, 1945. On Tuesday September 25, 1962 in Utah he married the love of his life Louise Andrews who preceded him in death in December 1991. He had been a resident of WV for more than 39 years moving from New Hampshire. He was a self-employed plumber for over 50 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located on the Beverly Pike in Elkins, WV. He also attended the Valley Head United Methodist Church in Valley Head,WV. He enjoyed surprising his many friends with candy on Easter and Halloween. He truly was a special man. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his first wife Bea Baker Deal in October 1960 and one brother John “Jack’ Deal who died several years ago. Left to cherish his memories are his stepson: Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Owens of Ramsey, MN; two step-daughters: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thania and Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Gungan all of Napierville,IL; niece: Carolyn Deal of CA; nephew; John Deal of CA; very special friends: Squire Kittle and wife Mona of Mill Creek, WV and Kathy McArthur and husband Larry of Elkins, WV whom he referred to her as “the daughter I never had”; special friends: Lorraine Bennett, Edith Bennett and Martha Reed and a host of many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursdsay March 31, 2011 fromm 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Bishop Paul David Huffman, Pastor Ann Fretwell and Pastor Eddie Kyle officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post #29 in Elkins, VFW Post # 3647 in Elkins and WVNG Honor Guard in Kingwood will be held at the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Bob was especially fond of the Randolph County Humane Society located on Weese Street in Elkins, WV. A luncheon will be held at 3:00 p.m.Thursday March 31 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Beverly. All are welcome to attend.
