Robert “Bob” Depriest, 83, a resident of the Files Creek Road, Beverly, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 8:30 p.m. at his residence.

He had been in failing health for the past several years, however, his condition had become critical for the past two weeks.

Death was attributed to cancer.

Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Ruth DePriest.

He was twice married. His first wife, Evelyn Arbogast Daniels, preceded him in death, and he was united in marriage to the former Dawn Sherman on March 24, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Alisa Zukowski and Renee Buchanan, both of Baltimore, Md.; a stepdaughter, Katrina Sherman of the Highland Park community; and two stepsons, John Lambert of Elkins and Dakota Lynn Sherman of the Highland Park community.

Also surviving is a grandson, Clay Phillips, and two granddaughters, Angela Daniels and Karen Sell.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son and brother.

Bob was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army with 31 years of service.

He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict.

He received over 17 medals and ribbons for his outstanding service to our country.

Bob was also wounded while serving his country and he remained patriotic after being discharged.

He was a Protestant by faith.

Friends were received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday after 7 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted from the Runner Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Mike House of Elkins will officiate.

Interment will be today at 2 p.m. in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton.

The Taylor County Colorguard including VFW Post 3081, American Legion Post 13 and the DAV 24 will conduct full military services.

The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Robert “Bob” DePriest.
