Mr. Robert Eugene “Tinker” Channell, age 73, a resident of Belington, gained his wings and left behind the cares of this world Wednesday evening August 25, 2021 in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins. He had been failing in health, but death was unexpected.

He was born September 27, 1947 at Elkins, WV, a son of the late Bobby E. and Dorothy Annabell McDonald Channell. On October 29, 1977 he was united in marriage to the former Tonda Joyce Simmons, who preceded him in death April 23, 2016.

He is survived by one son; Howard Hampton Channell and companion Lena of Belington, his loving companion; Sue Edwards of Belington, one brother; Timothy “Kim” Channell and husband Mike of Florida, and one grandson; Eli. Additional survivors include five aunts; Jean Hawkins of Junior, Jerry Brady of Junior, Lola Bussey of Parkersburg, Dixie Pride of Belpre, Ohio and Betty McDonald of St. Petersburg, Florida, several cousins, a whole host of friends,
his feline companion; Cuddles, his K-9 companion; Pup.

Tinker was a graduate of the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1967. He was previously employed by CSX Railroad as a track inspector, from which he retired.
He attended the Asbury United Methodist Church and was a very active member of the Junior Lion’s Club, a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge #125 AF & AM. He was a former member of the Junior Volunteer Fire Department, an avid hunter, fisherman, and a Mountaineer fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Monday August 30, 2021 from 6 -9 pm and again on Tuesday August 31, 2021 from 8 am – to 2:00 pm the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lee Williams officiating. Interment will then follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington where The Belington Masonic Lodge #125 AF &AM will conduct Ritualistic services.
