Robert Lee Corder 1904-2002 Obituary

Robert Lee Corder, 97, of Brushy Fork community, Route 1, Bridgeport, died Monday morning, Oct. 7, 2002, in the home of Charles and Sherry Sellers at Fox Run Road, Jane Lew.

He was born Aug. 11, 1905, at Brushy Fork community, a son of the late Perry Edward and Lucy Crouch Corder.

On April 30, 1932, he married the former Lelia Blanche Wolfe, who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1993.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews including several reared by Mr. and Mrs. Corder; Jeanie Menighan and John “Pete” Schnably, both of Bridgeport, Cyrus Guy Shipman, Painesville, Ohio, Caroline Menighan, Huntington; grandnieces, Jamie, Casey and Amber Schnably; one sister-in-law, Caroline Wolfe Schnably Cutlip, Bridgeport; two brothers-in-law, Francis Wolfe, Palm Harbor, Fla., and Blair Wolfe, Fairmont.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Marie Corder and two infant sisters; four brothers, Herbert Corder, Harry Corder, Bernie Corder and Piatt Corder; a niece, LaDonna June Stemple; and nephew, Capt. Donald F. Schnably, U.S.A., who were reared in the Corder home.

Mr. Corder was a farmer and a Protestant by faith.

The family will receive friends at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today. Friends may also call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Arthur Bennett, vicar of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Parkersburg, officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
