Robert Matt Lantz 1984-2002 Obituary

Robert Matt Lantz, 18, of Route 2, Buckhannon, the Ivy community, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. Death was due to an automobile accident.

He was born Feb. 20, 1984, in Elkins, a son of Donna Shipman Lantz, who survives at the Ivy community, and the late Charles “Bob” Lantz, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2001.

Surviving are one sister, Jessica Marie Lantz of the Ivy community; maternal grandmother, Melva Lambert Shipment of the Ivy community; paternal grandmother, Anna Cornell Lantz West, Buckhannon; and paternal great-grandmother, Lou Lantz, French Creek.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Bobbi Jo Lantz; maternal grandfather, Donald Shipman; and paternal grandfather, Charles D. Lantz.

He was a senior at Buckhannon-upshur High School and a student in the auto body division at Fred W. Eberle Technical Center. He won first place in the VICA Competition and would have represented the center in the state competition. He had plans to attend WYO Tech in Blairsville, Pa., and continue his education in auto body collision repair. He was a member of Tallmansville Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be at Tallmansville Baptist Church Thursday at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the following three organizations: Fred W. Eberle Technical center, Auto Body Division or Teen Institute or Project Graduation. The address for all three are BUHS, 50 BU Drive, Buckhannon, W.Va. 26201. Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of the arrangements.
