ROBERT NELSON MCLAUGHLIN, age 67 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009 at the Davis Memorial Hospital.

He was born Tuesday, July 14, 1942 at Winchester, VA, a son of the late Paul Nelson McLaughlin and Ruth Virginia Sanders McLaughlin who survives at Elkins. On August 16, 1963, at Wichita Falls, TX, he was married to the former Christine Ritter, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Bryan Neal McLaughlin, Chesapeake, VA, one daughter, Lora Kay Figgins and husband, Craig, Martinsburg, one sister, Lucy Nan Culver, Dailey, four granddaughters, Amber and Faith Figgins, and Kaitlin and Jessica McLaughlin, one aunt, Frances Carroll, Gainesville, FL, one uncle, George McLaughlin, Jasper, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1960, had attended Potomac State College, and served in the United States Air Force as an electrical instructor at Wichita Falls, TX. He was a member of the IBEW Local 596 of Clarksburg having worked as a journeyman electrician for several years until being employed by the Huttonsville Correctional Center as the Maintenance Supervisor from which he retired with over twenty years of service. He was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 108, A. F. & A. M., the Pilgrim Commandry #21, Knights Templar, the Wheeling Temple of Osiris, was past exalted ruler of the Elkins Lodge # 1135, B.P.O.E. and a member of Landmark Baptist Church and the church choir

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Tuesday. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1 PM. The Reverend Mark Houser will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins, WV where members of H. W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion will present the American Flag.
