Roger Lee Grumbine, 42, of Laurel, Maryland, was escorted by angels to his heavenly home on Monday, September 24, 2012 at his home in Laurel. His death was sudden and unexpected. He was born on Tuesday, September 15, 1970 in Baltimore, MD, a son of Ronnie Grumbine and Dorinda Hite Grumbine of Valley Bend, WV. On February 27th, 1993 he married Melissa Woody in Ellicot City, Md who survives. Also left to cherish Roger’s memory is his son, Russell Adam Grumbine of Laurel, MD, four cousins, Marsha Gibson of Stem, NC, Karen Hayes of Statesville, NC; Robert “Bobby” Gibson of Baltimore, MD; Tracy Mogel of Crofton, MD; as well as many other relatives, friends and co-workers. Roger was preceded in death by his grandmother: Charlotte Anne Evans, his great grandmother: Dora Virginia DeLauder, and his uncle: William Eugene Hite He was an officer for Prince George’s County Correctional Facility in Maryland for almost 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a true “family man” in every aspect of the word. He was a devoted husband and father and always put family first. He was a member of the Usual Suspects Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club in Southern Maryland. He enjoyed the companionship of his fellow riders and enjoyed the trips and many bike rides that they shared. In June 1989 Roger graduated from Greenham Common High School in Greenham Common, England. He won the United States Air Force Enlistedmen College Scholorship and started his college career in Fairford, England where his dad was stationed. In Feb of 1992 after the Gulf war, Roger returned to Laurel, Maryland to continue his education at the Howard County Community College. Friends will be received at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 11AM until 12 Noon at which time a memorial service will be held. Brother Bruce Hedrick will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens (formerly the I.O.O.F. Cemetery). The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremations Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Roger Lee Grumbine.
