Ronald C. Frank Craig 1929-2002 Obituary

Ronald C. “Frank” Craig, 72, of Ireland, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Craig was born March 10, 1929, in Walkersville, a son of the late Dencil Clark and Lucy Harris Craig.

On May 9, 1953, he married Gale Miller Craig, who survives in Ireland.

Also surviving are two sons, Stephen L. Craig and Douglas L. Craig, both of Ireland; two daughters, Debra Lambert, Weston, and Tamera K. Craig, Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Charles E. Craig, Roanoke, and Donald R. Craig, Buckhannon; a sister, Norene Caberlson, Fairfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Oral Craig; and a sister, Zula Craig.

Mr. Craig was a timberman and founder of Mountain State Log Homes. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 697 of Jane Lew and member of the VFW Post 5131 of Jane Lew.

He attended the Ireland United Methodist Church.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Alkire Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. At 8 p.m. today, there will be a Purple Heart ceremony by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 697 of Jane Lew. On Friday, he will be moved to Ireland United Methodist Church, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 697 of Jane Lew, American Legion Post 166 of Jane Lew, VFW Post 5131 of Jane Lew and the DAV Chapter 51 of Weston.
