Ronald “Ron” Lee Arbogast, 73, a resident of Dry Fork, passed from this life Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Ron was born Friday, March 19, 1948, at Mountain Clinic in Harman, a son of the late Howard Arbogast and Effie Agnes Summerfield Arbogast. On June 17, 1967, he married the love of his life, the former Nancy Louise Elza, who survives. They would soon celebrate fifty-five years of marriage.

Left to cherish Ron’s memory is his only child, Janice Barb and husband, Ruben “Beav” Barb, a granddaughter, Alicia Nicole Barb, and grandson, Kevin Mitchell Barb, all of Parsons, one brother, Jerry Arbogast, two sisters, Geraldine Watts and Karen Smith, all of Dryfork, brothers and sisters-in law, Max Elza and wife, Sandra of Elkins, Phyllis Webb of Harman, Winifred Kuhn of Elkins, Sharon Crossland and husband, Allen, of Davis, Doug Elza and wife, Linda and Jeff Elza and wife, Tammy, all of Harman, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and one living aunt, Wilda Young of LaVale, Maryland.

Preceding Ron in death besides his parents was a sister, Doris Eileen Bonner, a sister-in-law, Helen Smith Arbogast, brothers -in-laws, Norman Elza, Roy Watts, Jr., Cleve Bonner, nephews, Royce Watts, Allen “Abner” Elza, Eric Elza, Floyd “Joey” Mullenax, Chris Sanders, great nephews, Benjamin Vance and Donald Forrest Smith.

In 1966, Ron graduated from Harman High School. He worked in construction, was one of the first employees at Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area and Golf Course, drove truck for Tucker County Trucking before retiring after twenty-eight years from the Department of Highways. Ron had a love for bear hunting and his hunting dogs, Lead and Kate.

He enjoyed his hunting trips to Pennsylvania, Maine, South Carolina, Virginia, and here in West Virginia.

He made many friends and memories during his hunting adventures, including, the opportunity to meet Grandpa Jones. Ron was a long-time member of the Dryfork Assembly of God Church having served as a board member and contributing in church activities and functions.

Ron’s request for cremation was honored.
