Roy Frank Johnson, 83, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life on Monday at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown under the care of WV Hospice.

Roy was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Elkins, a son of the late George Johnson and Ivie Carr Johnson.

On April 6, 1963, he was married to the former Doris L. Coberly, who survives.

Left to cherish Roy’s memory is one son, Jim Johnson and wife, Tammy, of East Dailey; one sister, Monnah Butcher and husband, Don, of Montrose; one daughter-in-law, Kay Johnson of Norton; four grandsons, Richard “Andrew” Johnson, Brent Alexander Johnson, Jeremiah Michael Johnson and Jonah Nathaniel Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roy in death besides his parents was one son, Richard Lee Johnson; and one infant brother, Ralph Johnson.

Roy attended the schools of Randolph County and had served with the United States Army from 1961-1963.

He had worked for Allegheny Lumber Company and Elkins Lumber Company from which he retired in 1999. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, watching WVU football and basketball, watching World Wrestling Entertainment, playing cards and pool at the Randolph County Senior Center and telling stories.

He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandsons.

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Julie Davis will officiate and interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens.

We will continue to maintain social distancing and all who are in attendance are required to wear face coverings.

The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Roy Frank Johnson.
