Roy Lee Campbell 1932-2002 Obituary

Roy Lee Campbell, 70, of Shenandoah, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Campbell was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Shenandoah, Va., a son of the late Jesse William and Mamie Virginia Breeden Campbell Sr.

Mr. Campbell graduated from Shenandoah High School and Dunmore Business College. He retired in 1987 from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as an assistant trainmaster after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, where he sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Lions Club, Ashlar Lodge 125, 32nd Degree Mason, the Caverns Shriners Club, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, and the ACCA Temple.

He is survived by his wife, V. Beatrice Combs Campbell; one daughter, Kathy C. Litten and husband, Fred, New Hill, N.C.; two sons, Roy Lee Campbell II and wife, Lora, Shenandoah, and Rick Campbell and wife, Denise, Elkins; one brother, Frank Campbell, Elkton; five sisters, Helen Haugh, Hazel Campbell, Mary Comer and Shirley Croft, all of Shenandoah, Va., and Brenda Hilliard, Stanley, Va.; three grandchildren, Dee Litten and fiance, Dylan, Jessica Campbell and Lance Bond.

The Rev. James Daley and the Rev. Warren Grant will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg, Va., with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Campbell home at any time.
