Ruby Luvina (Moats) Kemphfer, 71, of Aurora, WV, passed away on October 16th, 2021, at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD.  She was born on September 18th, 1950, to the late Ward Delmar and Dove Luvina (Simmons) Moats.  

A graduate of Aurora High School, Ruby worked at Farley’s Restaurant and Melanie’s Family Restaurant prior to starting and running her own day care center. She enjoyed having little ones around for many years. Ruby was a longtime member of the Brookside Church of the Brethren and was also a lifelong member of the Aurora VFD Ladies Auxiliary.  Her favorite hobbies were gardening and canning and she loved traveling to visit family.  She loved spending time with her family and extended family and especially enjoyed watching her two oldest grandsons grow.  

She is survived by one son, Timmy L. Kemphfer Sr.; two daughters-in-law, Tina Shaffer and Devan Kemphfer; four grandchildren, Timmy L. Kemphfer Jr. and partner Emily Boothe of Morgantown, WV, Carmen L. Kemphfer and partner Sarah Bates of Thomas, WV, Christopher Kemphfer and Skyler Raye both of Itman, WV; two stepdaughters; one stepson; six step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; one brother, James Moats and wife Charis of Wellsburg, WV; one sister, Helen Cohen of Tucson, AZ; and all of the daycare children who called her grandma.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Leroy Kemphfer, who preceded her in death in February 19, 1999; seven brothers, Bill, Samuel, Richard, Earl, Marshal, Robert and Ward “Elmer” Moats; five sisters, Rachael, Genevieve, Edith, Charlene and Cindy; one stepson; and one stepdaughter.  

Friends will be received at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 pm and on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at the Brookside Church of the Brethren. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mark Teets officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Moats-Kemphfer family at this time.
