Ruth F. Riley, 94, of Green Bank, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Ruth was born Feb. 3 1918, at Durbin, to the late Clarence Edward and Edith Arbogast Flynn.

Ruth was a 1936 Green Bank High School graduate and a Marshall University graduate. She taught in one-room school houses in Pocahontas County at Oak Hill, Wesley Chapel, Kerr and Old Lick, before teaching first grade at Cass Elementary and then Green Bank Elementary, where she retired in 1973. She was a member of Cass Chapter 124 Eastern Star, joining March 7, 1950. She was also a member of Arbovale United Methodist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, June Riley; and a sister, Evelyn Sutton.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Riley DePue and husband, Sam, of Athens; son, Edward Lear Riley and wife, Charlotta, of Mill Point; grandchildren, Joe Riley and wife, Sarah, of Mill Point, Sara Riley Boothe and husband, Oka, of Princeton, Aaron DePue and wife, Shannon, of Morgantown and Andy DePue of Princeton; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, James, Silas, Hazel, Isabella Blayne and Avalynn.

Services were Monday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home with the Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Burial will followed in Arbovale Cemetery. Friends called Sunday at the funeral home.
