Samuel P. Barlow 1928-2002

Samuel P. Barlow, 74, of Buckeye, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in the Memorial Division of Charleston Area Medical Center after a short illness.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways, was a member and elder of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church, served on various committees of the West Virginia Presbytery, was a member of the Marlinton Masonic Lodge 127, American Legion Post 50, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4595 and Pocahontas County Historical Society.

He was born at Dunmore, Aug. 8, 1928, a son of the late Samuel H. and Mary Margaret Price Barlow.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Mary Barnisky Barlow; a brother, Asa Calvin Barlow; sisters, Joan Barlow, Nancy Ligon Barlow and Dr. Mary Margaret Barlow, preceded him in death.

A daughter, Martha Ann Barlow of Enola, Pa.; sons, John C. Barlow of Broadway, Va., and Samuel Price Barlow II of Harrisonburg, Va., survive him.

The Rev. Randy Benson will hold funeral services Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church. Burial with Masonic and military rites will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton. Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marlinton Presbyterian Church or Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
