SAMUEL “PRICE” RIGGLEMAN, age 83 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life early Saturday morning, December 10, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins, WV surrounded by his family.

He was born Sunday, January 22, 1928 at Monterville, WV a son of the late Homer Floyd and Mary Jane Hogan Riggleman. On June 30, 1951 at Elkins, WV he was married to the former Doris J. Scott, who survives. They had celebrated sixty years of marriage. Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia L. Reed and husband Michael, McHenry, MD; one brother, Floyd Lee Riggleman and wife Sylvia, Beverly; one sister-in-law, Ruth Burnidean, Beverly; four grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Reed; and Bradley and Andy Phillips; three great grandchildren, Natalie; Emma; and Evan Reed and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are one daughter, Karen Lynn Phillips; two brothers, Hayse William; and George Leonard Riggleman; and one sister, Cleo Depoy.

He attended the schools of Randolph County, and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army. He was an operator of the former Gulf Service Station at Beverly, and was a former employee of the Sunbeam Bread Company. He was the owner and operator of the Buck Wood Stove Company of Elkins along with his brother, Hayse and at the time of his retirement was a truck driver and bulldozer operator for the Rehoboth Coal Company. He was an active member of the Beverly United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men of the church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed woodworking.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. On Wednesday, December 14, 2011, Mr. Riggleman will be moved to the Beverly United Methodist Church where friends may call from 10 to 11 AM, the funeral hour. The Rev. Michael Ford and the Rev. Gary Phillips will officiate and interment will follow at the Beverly Cemetery at Beverly, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Beverly United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 130, Beverly, WV 26253 or to Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241 or to the Randolph County Cancer Support Group, P. O. Box 2361, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Karen L. Phillips.
