Samuel Victor Kesner 1914-2002 Obituary

Samuel Victor Kesner, 87, of Rough Run, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Mr. Kesner was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Rough Run, a son of the late George Kesner and Clara Adaline Bond Kesner.

He married Stella S. Parsons Kesner, who survives. They had been married for 56 years.

Also surviving are two sons, Doug Kesner and wife, Melda, Dorcas, and Allen Kesner and wife, Kimberly, Broadway, Va.; five grandchildren, Tammy Kesner, Greg Kesner, Ben Kesner, Elizabeth Kesner and Laura Kesner; three stepgrandchildren, Shawna Cordray, Devin Cordray and Breanna Cordray; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel Kesner and Autumn Kesner.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Westfall, Nellie Kesner, Myrtle Mongold and Beulah Sites; and five brothers, William “Babe” Kesner, Austin Kesner, Lester Kesner, John Kesner and Fred Kesner. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Kesner was a carpenter and farmer. He was a member and trustee of Hedrick Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Schaeffer Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael E. Taylor and the Rev. Richard L. Longbon officiating. Interment will follow in Kline Cemetery in Kline.
