Sarah Eleanor Hornbeck Wilson, 84, of Parsons, died Aug. 27, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She had been considered critical for the past month.

She was born Thursday, July 8, 1920, in Beverly, the daughter of the late George Burns Hornbeck and Amelia Lee Mateer.  On April 14, 1938, she was married to Willard Clarence “Bill” Wilson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2001.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane Wilson Martin and Barbara “Kay” (and Darius) Alkire all of Parsons; four grandsons, Mark (and Donna) Martin of New York, J.D. Alkire, Michael (Dwanetta) Martin and Eric (and Michelle) Alkire all of Parsons; one granddaughter Crystal Martin of Holly Meadows; three great-grandsons, Ben Martin of New York and Chase and Bryce Alkire of Parsons; four great-granddaughters, Jordan Alkire, Sarah Martin, Callie Martin and Emilie Martin; and one niece, Doris Hamman of Buckhannon.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George Hornbeck; and three sisters, Edith Mayo, Unice Hornbeck and Ruth Hornbeck.

She attended Beverly High School. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital for 25 years, until its closing. She was a caregiver throughout Tucker County and was a Presbyterian.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home where final rites were conducted. The Rev. John Morrison officiated and interment followed at Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
