Scotty James Pennington, 58, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

Scotty was born Thursday, January 9, 1964, in Parsons, a son of the late Otto McNeil Pennington and Charlotte Belle Lawrence Pennington. He was twice married. First, on April 6, 1993, he was married to Michele Lee Vance, who preceded him in death on December 30, 2018. Then, on June 26, 2021, he married the former Mary Elizabeth Foster who survives at home.

Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Caleb Pennington and wife Clara, Justin Pennington, three stepchildren, Elizabeth Reaschella and husband Chad, Paula Keene, and Sonya Keene, one granddaughter, Josie Mashburn, ten step-grandchildren, and four siblings, Darrell Pennington, Eric Pennington and wife Cammie, Sheila Pennington, and Dennis Pennington.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were three siblings, Sabin, Kevin, and Kathy, and two sisters in law, Janet and Sandy.

Scotty was a graduate of Parsons High School and had been employed as a fugitive recovery agent for twenty-one years. He recently retired in 2019. Scotty enjoyed riding his Harleys, playing pool, and doing home projects and remodeling with his son Caleb. One of his passions was working on cars, especially antique Cadillacs. He was an excellent drum player. Scotty loved and adored his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
